Vancouver Whitecaps FC's star striker, Mele French, had put the struggling W-League side ahead, thanks to a deserved penalty after Candace Chapman had tackled French from behind in the box. The friendly was played in three periods of 40, 25, and 25 minutes, before a 500-strong crowd.

Vancouver’s strikers, Eric Hassli and Atiba Harris, got the job done in Edmonton on Wednesday. Hassli’s 18th minute equaliser was set up by the ever improving Omar Salgado, and Harris’s 41st minute goal sealed the leg for the visitors. The 3,700 in attendance included a sizeable contingent of travelling supporters, who had defeated the Edmonton Supporters Group 11-7 earlier in the day at the neighbouring Clarke Stadium. The second leg is schedule for May 9th at BC Palce.
