Vancouver Whitecaps FC trained Thursday at Dhillon Field at the University of British Columbia.
The central defence had bodies missing in action today as both Andy O’Brien and Johnny Leverón did not participate in the full session, instead the pair spent the session indoors working on fitness and getting treatment.
Jay DeMerit and Brad Rusin both participated in training today, but Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie was mum on the subject of whether Rusin or Demerit would factor in the weekend match against San Jose Earthquakes.
Kobayashi Daigo was sporting a cast on his right hand. The 30-year-old Japanese midfielder broke 3 bones in his right hand following a collision with goalkeeper Joe Cannon in Tuesday’s training session. It doesn’t appear as though Kobayashi will miss action due to the injury.

Canadian Russell Teibert and Jamaican Darren Mattocks returned to training following their time on international duty. Both are options for Rennie on Saturday.
Vancouver are scheduled to hold a closed door training session on Friday at UBC before travelling to California to meet San Jose on Saturday evening. The Caps sit 7th in the west, tied with San Jose on points, and are desperate for a victory to get themselves back into the Major League Soccer playoff hunt.
The Whitecaps are five points back of the final playoff position in the MLS’s Western Conference.
