The Vancouver Media were back at it again on Friday for the second annual Vancouver Whitecaps FC Media Invitational. Last year, Team Solkowski took home the trophy, but could they retain it?
The day started off with a visit to the Locker Room by Carl Robinson, who was in high spirits, glad to see the shoe, or cleats in this case, on the other foot. Today it would be his turn to analyse our form and judge our techniques, well, those of us who could participate anyway.
There were some curious decisions. One journalist, who shall remain nameless, decided to hit the gym on Thursday, presumably in a last minute bid to make some improvements. Unfortunately, the body doesn't work that way, and no doubt he will need to rest up tomorrow.
During the warm-ups, a group from Global decided to form a 4-person pyramid. While it certainly was an amusing sight to behold, we're still not sure about the physical benefits of it. If anything, we would expect it to cause problems for the backs of the guys who made the base of the pyramid.
In the 7-a-sides, which lasted 25 minutes per match, there were goals, there were celebrations, and there was even an injury. But in the end, Jason de Vos was able to Captain his side to victory.
While Carlo Corazzin and Paul Dolan will have to wait until next year to get their next chance at winning their first Vancouver Whitecaps FC Media Invitational trophy, and Perry Solkowski will be looking to bounce after a disappointing effort on Friday, you can enjoy some of the highlights of the 2014 edition.
