Vancouver stealthily sign ten to NLL contracts

September 27, 2014 Christopher Vose

On Saturday morning, as many people were watching the Ryder Cup, Premier League, or MLS, the Vancouver Stealth announced that they had signed the entirety of their 2014 draft class, as well as resigning Chris Wardle, and the recently acquired tandum of Joel McCready and Eric Penney.

In all they signed transition Conrad Chapman (12th), defenders Brandon Clelland (21st), Jakob Doucet (25th), DJ Saari (39th), and Steve Ferdinande (48th), and forwards Dan Keane (23rd) and Matt Delmonico (30th).

Wardle returns for his second season with the Stealth after being drafted 54th in 2013. In four matches last year, he scored one goal, and three assists. He'll be hoping to make more of an impact this year when training camp begins in December.

McCready signed a three-year contract after being acquired from Rochester along with the Knighthawks' first round pick this year, which was subsequently dealt to Bufflo, and their third, which was used on Keane. Going the other way was the Stealth's first this year, as well as their first and second round picks in 2015 and 2017.

"My family and I were just really excited to hear the news," said McCready, who makes his offseason home in Coquitlam. "I had some great times in Rochester, but I'm really pumped to be with the Stealth and I couldn't be happier."

Penny was acquired from Buffalo on Draft Day after having been drafted last year in the fifth round.

The Stealth open the season away at Calgary on January 3rd. Their home owner will be the following week when they welcome the Toronto Rock to the Langley Events Centre on January 10th at 7:00 PM.
