Former Whitecap Big Phil Davies was nowhere to be seen, as the Canadian midfielder signed with Ottawa Fury FC in February, but there were more than enough loaned Whitecaps at Battery Park to interest any Vancouver supporter.
The starting eleven included a balanced three of a forward, midfielder, and a defender in Omar Salgado, Andre Lewis, and Jackson Farmer. Lewis came off at half time, Salgado would last until the 56th minute, and 18-year old Farmer played the entire match.
Adam Mena replaced Salgado, while Mamadou Diouf entered the match in the 69th minute, and Aminu Abdallah was brought on for the last quarter of an hour.
Although the Battery had a spare substitute, with USL Pro clubs being allowed up to five, Marlon Ramirez did not feature in the match and Michael Kafari didn't make the 18.

The match ended as a 2-2 draw, with George Davis kicking Richmond into the lead, while Jarad van Schaik was the beneficiary of a beautifully struck cross from Andre Lewis, and Amadou Sanyang put the Battery ahead after Adam Mena drew a dangerous free kick, just outside the box. Davis drew the DC United-affiliate level in the 67th minute.
"Obviously we were disappointed to give up the early goal, but we got a great goal from Jarad van Schaik," said Charleston manager Mike Anhaeuser. "In the second half, we came out a little better and went up 2-1, but they were able to whip in a good cross. After that, it was an even game. Richmond is a good team and we need to work these teams a little better."
Charleston next head to Orlando in a rematch of their home opener on Saturday, April 12th, before returning to Battery Park to face the Red Bull New York Reserves on Friday, April 18th. Click here to open our fullscreen slideshow.
