At three o'clock on June the 28th, the British Columbia Lions will begin their quest for a seventh Grey Cup when they face the visiting Edmonton Eskimos at BC Place. This will be the Lions 61st season of gridiron football.
The fixture list includes four Fridays, four Saturdays, and a single Sunday match against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on August the 24th. Six of the matches kick off at seven o'clock, with another two at four o'clock, and the home opener at three o'clock.
"We are very happy with this year's home schedule and we believe our fans will be as well," said Lions president and CEO Dennis Skulsky. "With an even split of Friday and Saturday dates I believe we took a big step toward achieving what our fans have told us they want for home dates and start times."
The Ottawa Redblacks, the Canadian Football League’s newest club will play their first match at BC Place on October the 11th. The Leos had a lifetime record of 31-2-18 against the Ottawa Rough Riders, and a perfect 8-0-0 record against the Ottawa Renegades.
With Ottawa joining the East Division, Winnipeg returns to the West and will make two appearances at BC Place, first on July the 25th, and then again on September the 13th.
"From a coaching perspective this year's schedule is very favourable for us," said manager Mike Benevides. "Consistent preparation time between games, tough opponents early on, a late season bye-week and finishing at home against a division rival will make 2014 very exciting and a lot of fun."
Supporters will get their first look at the 2014 version of the Lions in a friendly against Calgary at BC Place on June the 20th.
