The fall season of the NASL means a second chance to make the Soccer Bowl in Atlanta.
For FC Edmonton, their home schedule of the fall campaign started off on the right foot, with a 1-0 win over San Antonio.
FC Edmonton got things started with a goal coming courtesy Corey Hertzog, currently on loan from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in the 16th minute with a right footed strike that beat San Antonio’s Pat Hannigan.
Hertzog, in his time with the Whitecaps this year, had played in seven matches and had one goal before joining FC Edmonton.

Scoring first in the match was something that the Rabbits needed as putting the ball in the back of the net was something the squad had trouble doing in the spring season.
FC Edmonton’ only scored 13 times during the Spring season, which was among the lowest in the league.
San Antonio had chances late in the match to equalise but Rabbits goalkeeper Lance Parker was able to keep his clean sheet intact.
Manager Colin Miller was happy with his team on how they were able to get three points at home.
“Pleased with no goals against, and I thought with a bit of luck we could have scored another two or three goals here. So I think it’s a solid performance especially having played so poorly last week against Carolina. It was unlike an Rabbits performance for sure, there was many factors contributed to that but the character that we’ve instilled was there for everyone to see here.”
