Vancouver Whitecaps FC trained at BC Place in front of a select number of media members on Thursday. Training had been scheduled for Dhillon Field but was moved this morning.
While some members of the media, myself included, made the long trek to Dhillon Field for the 11:30am opening time, the Caps worked through drills and mini matches on the turf at BC Place.
With some detective work, I can tell you that Whitecaps manager Martin Rennie should have four centre backs to choose from against Real Salt Lake. All four are healthy and ready for action; Brad Rusin, being the only absentee in the centre back group.
Kenny Miller once again saw limited action in training and is a question mark for the Caps on Saturday. If Miller can’t participate, Camilo Sanvezzo will likely slot into his role up front. Tom Heinemann also looks like he will remain in the starting eleven for Vancouver.
The Caps face Real Salt Lake Saturday at 4:00 PM pacific time at BC Place. A win for Vancouver would move the Whitecaps to within one point of Colorado Rapids SC and the final playoff spot in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference. The Rapids are off this weekend.
Elsewhere in the west, two other teams within Vancouver’s sights see Portland Timbers host the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday.
