Martinique fought bravely. They could have given up. They could have allowed Panama to run roughshod over them. But they did not. They stood their ground, and managed to hold the Panamanians to single goal.
It could be said that the referee both helped, and hindered Les Matinino. First, he disallowed what would have been the opening goal, and later, he awarded Panama a penalty.
